Terms of service

TAG SAFE – TERMS & CONDITIONS

Last updated: 4 September 2026

These Terms and Conditions apply to purchases made from Tag Safe and to the use of Tag Safe products, NFC technology, Tag Safe profile pages and associated services.

Please read these Terms and Conditions carefully before placing an order.

By placing an order with Tag Safe, you agree to these Terms and Conditions.

1. About Tag Safe

Tag Safe is a UK business operated as a sole trader.

Tag Safe provides personalised NFC-enabled identification and contact products, including products designed for pets, children, luggage and other personal belongings.

You can contact us at:

Email: info@tagsafeonline.co.uk

Throughout these Terms and Conditions, “Tag Safe”, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to the Tag Safe business.

“You”, “your” and “customer” refer to the person purchasing or using our products or services.

Our products are currently available for delivery within the United Kingdom only.

2. What Tag Safe Products Do

Tag Safe products contain NFC technology.

Depending on the product and options selected when ordering, a Tag Safe may be programmed to:

  • direct a compatible smartphone to a personalised Tag Safe profile;

  • provide contact information supplied by the customer;

  • open the option to telephone a nominated contact number;

  • provide information intended to help reunite a lost item, pet or person with their owner, parent, guardian or other nominated contact; or

  • provide other information or functionality described on the relevant product page.

The exact functionality available depends on the product and setup option selected when ordering.

3. Tag Safe Is Not a GPS Tracker

Tag Safe products are not GPS trackers.

Purchasing or using a Tag Safe does not allow Tag Safe, the purchaser or another person to continuously track the location of the tag, pet, child, luggage or other item.

A standard NFC Tag Safe:

  • does not continuously transmit its location;

  • does not provide live GPS tracking;

  • does not independently connect to a mobile network;

  • does not automatically report its location;

  • does not require charging or a battery for its normal NFC function; and

  • generally requires a compatible NFC-enabled device to be brought close to the tag before its programmed function can be accessed.

Where Tag Safe offers a feature allowing a finder to voluntarily share a location, the finder must actively choose to provide that information.

Any such feature does not turn the Tag Safe into a GPS tracker and does not provide continuous or automatic location tracking.

4. No Guarantee of Recovery

Tag Safe is designed to provide an additional method of identification and contact if a pet, child, piece of luggage or other tagged item becomes separated from its owner or responsible person.

We cannot guarantee that:

  • a lost pet will be found;

  • a missing person will be located;

  • lost luggage or property will be returned;

  • a finder will notice the Tag Safe;

  • a finder will tap or scan the Tag Safe;

  • the finder will have a compatible device;

  • the finder will contact the details displayed;

  • a mobile network or internet connection will be available; or

  • information supplied by the customer will still be accurate when the tag is used.

Tag Safe should therefore be considered an additional identification and contact aid, rather than a guaranteed recovery or tracking system.

5. NFC Device Compatibility

NFC functionality depends on the device being used to read the Tag Safe.

Many modern smartphones support NFC, but compatibility can vary according to:

  • manufacturer;

  • model;

  • operating system;

  • device settings;

  • NFC settings;

  • browser settings;

  • protective phone cases;

  • the position of the NFC reader within the phone; and

  • software or hardware changes made by device manufacturers.

Tag Safe cannot guarantee compatibility with every smartphone, tablet or other device.

A failure by a particular device to read an otherwise functioning NFC tag does not necessarily mean the Tag Safe is defective.

6. Direct Call Tags

Where the customer selects Direct Call, the NFC tag will be programmed using the telephone number supplied with the order.

When a compatible device reads the NFC tag, it may open the device's telephone function and give the user the option to call the programmed number.

The tag does not automatically make the telephone call.

The person using the device remains responsible for choosing whether to make the call.

Customers are responsible for ensuring the telephone number submitted when ordering is correct.

Tag Safe cannot be responsible for calls being unsuccessful because:

  • an incorrect number was supplied;

  • the number has subsequently changed;

  • the telephone is switched off;

  • the recipient has no signal;

  • the recipient does not answer;

  • the number has been disconnected; or

  • circumstances outside Tag Safe's control prevent the call.

7. Tag Safe Profiles

Where the customer selects a Tag Safe Profile, the NFC tag may direct a finder to a profile containing information supplied by the customer.

Depending on the product, this may include information such as:

  • a name;

  • pet name;

  • parent, guardian or owner contact details;

  • primary telephone number;

  • alternative contact;

  • email address;

  • veterinary information;

  • medical or care information; and

  • other information selected or supplied by the customer.

The exact fields available may vary between products.

Customers should only provide information they are comfortable making available to a person who physically accesses their Tag Safe.

8. Accuracy of Profile Information

Tag Safe creates and maintains profiles using information supplied by customers.

Customers are responsible for ensuring that information supplied to Tag Safe is:

  • accurate;

  • complete;

  • lawful;

  • appropriate; and

  • kept reasonably up to date.

Tag Safe is not responsible for verifying the accuracy of information submitted by a customer.

Customers should notify us if important contact information changes.

9. Profile Amendments

Customers may request changes to information displayed on their Tag Safe Profile by contacting:

info@tagsafeonline.co.uk

We aim to process profile amendment requests within approximately 7–10 working days.

This timeframe is an estimate rather than a guaranteed completion time.

Customers should therefore contact us as early as possible when an important change is required.

Until an amendment has been completed, the existing information may continue to appear on the profile.

10. Availability of Tag Safe Profiles

The purchase of a Tag Safe does not constitute the purchase of guaranteed lifetime website hosting.

Where profile hosting is included with a Tag Safe product without an ongoing subscription fee, we intend to continue providing the profile service for as long as it is reasonably practical for Tag Safe to do so.

However, technology, hosting providers, operating costs and the Tag Safe business itself may change in the future.

We therefore cannot guarantee that hosted Tag Safe Profiles will remain available indefinitely.

We may need to alter, migrate, suspend or discontinue some or all hosted profile services where reasonably necessary, including because of:

  • closure or cessation of the Tag Safe business;

  • death, incapacity or inability of the business operator to continue providing the service;

  • loss or withdrawal of hosting services;

  • significant changes in hosting or technology costs;

  • changes to third-party platforms or technology;

  • security concerns;

  • legal or regulatory requirements;

  • technical changes which make the existing service impractical;

  • circumstances outside our reasonable control; or

  • replacement of the service with a materially different system.

Where reasonably possible, we will endeavour to provide appropriate notice of a planned permanent discontinuation of the hosted profile service.

Nothing in this section removes any statutory rights a customer may have.

11. Children's Tag Safe Products

Tag Safe children's products are designed to provide an additional way for another person to obtain contact information for a parent, guardian or nominated responsible adult.

A Tag Safe is not a substitute for appropriate adult supervision, safeguarding arrangements or emergency procedures.

Parents and guardians remain responsible for determining whether a Tag Safe is appropriate for their child and what information should be associated with it.

We strongly recommend carefully considering how much personal information is made publicly accessible through a child's tag.

Customers should avoid submitting unnecessary sensitive information.

If a child appears to be missing or in immediate danger, appropriate emergency procedures should be followed. Tag Safe should not be relied upon instead of contacting the police, emergency services or other appropriate authorities.

12. Pet Tag Safe Products

Pet Tag Safe products are intended to provide an additional identification and contact method.

They are not intended to replace any legally required pet identification, registration or microchipping.

Owners remain responsible for complying with all applicable legal requirements concerning their animals.

Tag Safe cannot guarantee that a finder will notice, scan or use a pet's NFC tag.

13. Veterinary Information

Where customers choose to provide veterinary practice information, Tag Safe displays the information supplied by the customer.

Tag Safe does not independently verify veterinary practices or veterinary contact details.

Customers are responsible for keeping this information accurate and current.

The inclusion of veterinary details does not authorise Tag Safe to make veterinary decisions on behalf of an animal's owner.

14. Medical and Care Information

Some Tag Safe products or profiles may allow customers to provide medical, allergy, disability, behavioural, care or other important information.

This functionality is provided as an information aid only.

Tag Safe is not a medical device or emergency medical service.

Tag Safe does not verify medical information supplied by customers and does not provide medical advice.

Customers remain responsible for ensuring that information is accurate and appropriate.

Medical professionals, emergency services and other persons should exercise their own professional judgement and should not rely solely upon information accessed through a Tag Safe.

15. Luggage Tags

Tag Safe luggage products provide an additional method for a finder to contact the owner of luggage or other belongings.

They are not a replacement for:

  • airline baggage tracking systems;

  • airline baggage labels;

  • travel insurance;

  • carrier tracking services; or

  • other appropriate luggage identification.

Tag Safe cannot guarantee the recovery of lost, delayed, stolen or misdirected luggage.

16. Personalisation

Many Tag Safe products are personalised or programmed specifically for the individual customer.

Personalisation may include:

  • names;

  • colours;

  • printed wording;

  • telephone numbers;

  • NFC programming;

  • profile links; and

  • other customer-selected information.

Customers are responsible for checking all information carefully before submitting their order.

This includes checking:

  • spelling;

  • names;

  • telephone numbers;

  • email addresses;

  • colours;

  • contact information; and

  • other personalised details.

We manufacture and programme products using the information submitted with the order.

Tag Safe cannot normally be responsible for an error that accurately reproduces incorrect information supplied by the customer.

17. Colours and Product Appearance

We make reasonable efforts to display our products accurately.

However, colours displayed on screens may vary depending on the customer's device, screen settings, photography and lighting.

Because Tag Safe products may be individually produced, minor variations associated with the manufacturing process may occur.

Small cosmetic characteristics that are normal for the relevant manufacturing process and do not materially affect the product's appearance or function will not necessarily constitute a defect.

This does not affect your statutory rights where goods are faulty, not of satisfactory quality or not as described.

18. Placing an Order

When placing an order, customers must provide the information requested during checkout and product personalisation.

Customers are responsible for ensuring their order is correct before payment.

After an order is submitted, we may send an order confirmation electronically.

An order may be refused or cancelled where reasonably necessary, including where:

  • payment cannot be authorised;

  • an obvious pricing error has occurred;

  • the requested personalisation is unlawful or inappropriate;

  • we cannot reasonably manufacture the product;

  • fraudulent activity is suspected; or

  • circumstances outside our reasonable control prevent us from fulfilling the order.

If we cancel an order after payment has been taken and no goods are supplied, an appropriate refund will be issued.

19. Prices

Prices displayed on the Tag Safe website are in Pounds Sterling (£).

The price charged will be the price displayed at checkout when the order is placed, subject to correction of obvious errors.

Any applicable delivery charge will be displayed before payment is completed.

Our standard UK delivery charge is currently £3 per order, unless another delivery price or promotion is displayed during checkout.

We may change our prices in the future. Changes will not normally affect orders already accepted.

20. Payment

Payment must be completed using one of the payment methods offered through our checkout.

Payment processing may be provided by third-party payment providers.

Tag Safe does not guarantee that every payment method will remain available indefinitely.

An order will not normally enter production until payment has been successfully authorised.

21. Production Time

Tag Safe products are individually prepared, programmed and/or personalised.

Our normal production target is approximately:

1–2 working days

before dispatch.

This is an estimated production timeframe rather than a guaranteed dispatch deadline.

Production may occasionally take longer during busy periods or because of circumstances outside our reasonable control.

22. Delivery

Tag Safe currently delivers within the United Kingdom only.

After production, our normal delivery estimate is approximately:

2–3 working days after dispatch.

Therefore, customers should normally allow approximately 3–5 working days for production and delivery, although this is an estimate and not a guaranteed delivery date.

Delivery may occasionally be affected by postal delays, severe weather, industrial action, public holidays or other circumstances outside our reasonable control.

Where tracking or delivery information is available, this may be supplied to the customer.

23. Incorrect Delivery Information

Customers are responsible for supplying a complete and accurate delivery address.

If an order cannot be delivered because the customer supplied incorrect or incomplete address information, additional postage charges may apply before the item can be resent.

Please contact us as quickly as possible if you notice an error in your delivery information.

24. Cancellation and Changes Before Production

Because Tag Safe products are normally personalised and/or programmed specifically for each customer, we may begin preparing an order shortly after it is received.

If you need to change or cancel an order, contact:

info@tagsafeonline.co.uk

as soon as possible.

We will try to accommodate changes where reasonably possible.

However, we cannot guarantee that an order can be changed or cancelled once personalisation, programming or manufacture has begun.

Your statutory rights are not affected.

25. Personalised Goods and Change-of-Mind Returns

Many Tag Safe products are made to the customer's specifications or clearly personalised.

Where the legal exception for personalised or made-to-specification goods applies, the usual distance-selling right to cancel simply because the customer has changed their mind does not apply.

This may include products that have been individually:

  • printed with a customer's requested name or information;

  • manufactured to a customer's particular specification;

  • programmed using customer-specific contact information; or

  • otherwise clearly personalised for that customer.

This does not affect your rights if the product is faulty, not as described, not of satisfactory quality or otherwise fails to meet your statutory rights.

If a product is not personalised or made to your specification, any cancellation rights provided by applicable consumer law will continue to apply.

26. Faulty, Damaged or Incorrect Products

We want customers to receive a Tag Safe that works correctly and matches their order.

If you believe your product:

  • arrived damaged;

  • is faulty;

  • does not function correctly;

  • was incorrectly personalised by us; or

  • is materially different from what you ordered,

please contact:

info@tagsafeonline.co.uk

as soon as reasonably possible.

Please include your order number and an explanation of the problem.

We may request photographs, video or other reasonable information to help us understand the issue.

Where the product is faulty or we have made an error, we will provide the remedy required by applicable UK consumer law.

Nothing in these Terms and Conditions limits your statutory rights.

27. Normal Wear, Damage and Misuse

Tag Safe products are intended for everyday use, but their lifespan will depend on how they are used.

A product will not necessarily be considered defective where damage results from:

  • normal wear and tear;

  • chewing or biting by animals;

  • deliberate damage;

  • excessive force;

  • scratching;

  • crushing;

  • inappropriate heat exposure;

  • inappropriate chemical exposure;

  • alteration by the customer;

  • attempting to dismantle the product;

  • misuse;

  • loss of the product; or

  • use contrary to instructions supplied with the product.

This does not affect your statutory rights where a product had an inherent fault when supplied.

28. Lost Tags

Customers are responsible for securely attaching and looking after their Tag Safe.

Unless the loss resulted from a defect for which Tag Safe is legally responsible, Tag Safe is not responsible for replacing products that are subsequently lost or misplaced.

Customers should contact us if a tag associated with personal information is lost and they are concerned about the information accessible through it.

Where technically possible, we may be able to disable, alter or remove access to a hosted Tag Safe Profile.

29. Customer-Supplied Information

Customers must not submit information for printing, programming or display that:

  • is unlawful;

  • infringes another person's rights;

  • is fraudulent;

  • impersonates another person;

  • is threatening or abusive;

  • is deliberately misleading;

  • contains malicious computer code; or

  • would make providing the requested service unlawful.

We may refuse or remove inappropriate content.

30. Information Concerning Other People

Customers may provide information concerning another person, for example:

  • a child;

  • partner;

  • family member;

  • emergency contact;

  • backup contact; or

  • pet owner.

The customer is responsible for ensuring that they have an appropriate lawful basis or permission to provide and use that information where required.

In particular, customers should obtain permission before submitting another adult's contact information for publication on a Tag Safe Profile.

31. Privacy

We process personal information in connection with orders and Tag Safe Profiles.

Our separate Privacy Policy explains how personal information is collected, used, stored and protected.

Customers should read the Privacy Policy before providing personal information.

Because a Tag Safe Profile is designed to help a finder contact the relevant person, information intentionally placed on the profile may be accessible to anyone who obtains physical access to the tag and follows its NFC link.

Customers should therefore carefully consider what information they choose to make accessible.

32. Security

We take reasonable measures to operate Tag Safe's systems responsibly.

However, no website, hosting service or internet-connected system can be guaranteed to be completely secure or continuously available.

Customers must contact us promptly if they believe:

  • their Tag Safe Profile has been accessed improperly;

  • incorrect information is being displayed;

  • their tag has been lost or stolen and they want profile access reviewed; or

  • there is another security concern.

33. Third-Party Services

Tag Safe relies on third-party services and technology which may include:

  • website hosting;

  • ecommerce platforms;

  • payment processors;

  • NFC-compatible smartphone technology;

  • internet service providers;

  • postal or delivery services;

  • domain services; and

  • other technology suppliers.

Some functionality may therefore depend on services outside Tag Safe's direct control.

We are not responsible for failures caused entirely by third-party systems where the failure is outside our reasonable control, although this does not exclude any responsibility that cannot legally be excluded.

34. Changes to Technology

NFC technology, smartphones, operating systems and internet standards may change.

Tag Safe may reasonably update or alter how its products or hosted services operate to maintain compatibility, security or functionality.

Where possible, changes will be designed to preserve the main purpose of the service.

We cannot guarantee that technology currently supported will remain supported indefinitely by third-party manufacturers or service providers.

35. Intellectual Property

The Tag Safe name, branding, website content, original graphics, designs, text and other materials belonging to Tag Safe must not be copied, reproduced or commercially exploited without permission, except where permitted by law.

Purchasing a Tag Safe product does not transfer ownership of Tag Safe's intellectual property to the customer.

36. Our Responsibility

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful.

In particular, nothing in these Terms excludes or restricts your statutory rights concerning goods that are faulty, not as described, not of satisfactory quality or not fit for purpose.

Nothing in these Terms seeks to exclude liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence where such liability cannot legally be excluded.

Subject to applicable law, Tag Safe is not responsible for losses caused solely by circumstances outside our reasonable control or by a customer's failure to follow these Terms.

37. Tag Safe as an Additional Safety Aid

Customers acknowledge that Tag Safe products are intended as an additional identification and contact tool.

They should not be relied upon as the sole safety measure for:

  • supervising a child;

  • protecting a vulnerable person;

  • locating a missing person;

  • identifying or locating a pet;

  • protecting luggage;

  • obtaining emergency assistance;

  • communicating medical information; or

  • safeguarding valuable property.

Customers remain responsible for using appropriate supervision, identification, tracking, insurance, emergency and safeguarding measures for their individual circumstances.

38. Events Outside Our Reasonable Control

We will not be responsible for delay or failure caused by events outside our reasonable control.

These may include, for example:

  • postal disruption;

  • severe weather;

  • natural disasters;

  • widespread internet outages;

  • major hosting failures;

  • cyber incidents affecting third-party infrastructure;

  • industrial action;

  • government restrictions;

  • interruption to utilities;

  • shortages of essential materials; or

  • other circumstances that we could not reasonably prevent.

Where such an event occurs, we will take reasonable steps to minimise disruption.

Your statutory rights remain unaffected.

39. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms and Conditions from time to time, for example because:

  • our products change;

  • our services change;

  • technology changes;

  • our delivery arrangements change; or

  • legal or regulatory requirements change.

The version applicable to an order will normally be the version in effect when that order was placed.

The latest version will be made available through the Tag Safe website.

40. Complaints

We want to resolve problems fairly.

If you have a complaint concerning a Tag Safe product, order or service, please contact:

info@tagsafeonline.co.uk

Please include your order number where applicable and provide sufficient information for us to investigate the issue.

We will aim to respond within a reasonable period.

41. Your Statutory Rights

These Terms and Conditions do not remove or reduce any rights that you have under applicable UK consumer law.

Goods supplied by Tag Safe must meet the standards required by law, including applicable requirements concerning satisfactory quality, fitness for purpose and correspondence with their description.

Where applicable, consumers may have rights to remedies including repair, replacement, price reduction or refund.

42. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found by a court or competent authority to be unlawful, invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue to apply.

Where appropriate, the affected provision will apply only to the extent that it is lawful and enforceable.

43. No Waiver

If Tag Safe does not immediately enforce a provision of these Terms, this does not mean that we have permanently waived our right to enforce it.

44. Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions and any contract between Tag Safe and the customer are governed by the applicable laws of the United Kingdom, subject to any mandatory consumer protections that apply.

Nothing in these Terms removes a consumer's right to bring proceedings in a court available to them under applicable consumer law.

45. Contacting Tag Safe

For questions about an order, Tag Safe Profile, amendment, faulty product, complaint or these Terms and Conditions, contact:

Tag Safe

Email: info@tagsafeonline.co.uk

Please quote your order number where your enquiry relates to an existing order.

By placing an order with Tag Safe, you confirm that you have read these Terms and Conditions and agree to be bound by them, subject always to your statutory consumer rights.
